While we all know almost everything is cheaper across the causeway in JB than Singapore, there are some items or to-do that are definitely worth our effort to brave the traffic jam. Yes, traffic can be crawling at the causeway and you will get stuck for hours or making your journey by public transport that includes queue, queue, queue, and yet more queue. The endless queues start from the moment you board a bus into Singapore Immigration, then another at the Immigration Hall, followed by queues to re-board the bus. Just when you thought the worst is over, yet more queues when you arrive at Malaysia Immigration for entry.

Refuel Petrol
Top on the agenda for all drivers travelling to Johor Bahru is definitely fuel. With current Singapore petrol price hovering from SGD1.90 onwards, there are significant savings (more than 50%) to be had with the price in Malaysia going at RM2.10 (foreign vehicles are only allowed to pump RON97). Nobody leaves Johor Bahru without a full tank of gas, and has over time developed a phenomenon that saw minority of Singaporeans shaking their car during refuel just to get that extra litre.

Buy Food & Grocery
Malaysia has the upper hand for decades when it comes to food and local products, but not for imported items. You will be better off getting imported stuffs in Singapore for its price and variety.
In Malaysia, there are many places to shop for your groceries that cater to everyone from the affordable Tesco, Giant Hypermarket, AEON Big to the upmarket Jusco or Cold Storage. There’s something for everybody.
Come meal time, a trip to Malaysia especially Johor Bahru will never be complete for visitors without going for a seafood dinner. We have many seafood villages by the sea (Todak Seafood Restaurant, Asli Seafood Restaurant just to name a few) located on the eastern and western end of Johor Bahru city which offers fresh yummy seafood at very affordable prices. If you wish to go for something with a little more grandeur, then you can consider Peikin Restaurant, Grand Straits Garden or Grand Bayview Seafood. They offer anything from Alaskan king crabs, Australia lobsters to locally caught fresh seafood.

Cross-border taxi from Singapore to JB (Johor Bahru)
All visitors to Malaysia must obtain a visa unless they are from any of the below visa-exempted countries, and if they fulfill all of the following requirements.
Ensure validity of the passport
All visitors will need a passport that’s valid for at least 6 months
Ensure your passport has sufficient blank pages
Malaysia requires there are sufficient un-used pages in your passport for entry and departure. A minimum of 2 pages is required just to be sure.
Ensure transit visa is obtained (if any)
Check that you have all necessary transit visa, en route to Malaysia for connecting flights.
